YEAH 36,000 in attendance --- I WAS AT THAT SHOW!!!!
And boy do I have a story about it too!!!
I was attending Bible College in Pensacola FLORIDA!!! Do you know how for FLORIDA is from CORNERSTONE???? Really far!!!
I didn't have a car but I found this guy who liked Stryper back in the day and convinced him that if he drove, I would pay his way into the festival!!!
He had this little pick up without a backseat it was just the little side seat that folds down... and he was heading to wisconsin for summer break - SO, I talked him into doing the detour and we ended up in Bushnell. Now, let me explain - because he was going home for the summer the car was PACKED and I had this little fold down seat in the back with a computer between my legs and NO leg room for like 16 hours (because we were hauling a trailer and were going VERY VERY SLOW).
It was SO uncomfortable.... BUT that was my VERY FIRST TIME EVER to see Stryper!!!!!!!!!! I will never forget that night and it was so worth it.

OH and here is another memorable thing about that show... the group THIRD DAY played before or opened for STRYPER and MAC POWELL the lead singer was wearing a Stryper T-shirt. In fact I remember him saying it was a great honor and a privalege to open for one of the greatest Rock bands of all times. In fact he admitted that if it hadn't been for Stryper - THIRD DAY would not be where they were today because of the influence they had on christian music!!!
That was cool...
Also I remember that year hanging out with all my good friends in Sacred Warrior too. I hadn't seen them for years... road back up the rest of the way to Chicago with those guys as my friend went on to Wisconsin.
Amazing - absolutely amazing.

NOW - here is a task for ya.... find video of MAC POWELL from THIRD DAY giving total props, shout outs and respect when they opened for STRYPER that year!!!
very cool Rich! I was at the show as well. I have Rich running back and forth on stage on my footage i filmed. And yea, what a crowd, I remember Mike saying that POD was a tough act to follow. i was like come on, Your Stryper!! (not to take away from what Rich put up,) but Here is some of my footage of that wknd.. including Third Day , right b4 stryper hit the stage.. i wont post the video here itself.. but here is a link to watch it
