Message from Dave Rose at Deep South:

Due to the delay in the release of the song "Murder by Pride" on iTunes last week, we have decided to keep it available for download for another week. We have learned (and by "we", we mean everyone… Big3, Deep South, and iTunes) that adding and removing songs on iTunes is not as precise time-wise as everyone would have liked it to be. Even iTunes was quick to admit this is something brand new for them, so unforeseen "glitches" may occur, but everyone is working hard to smooth this out.

The next scheduled song to be released is "4 Leaf Clover" on May 26. In the meantime, you can still download "Murder by Pride" until then.

Check back here for a revised release schedule of each song for the iTunes promotion shortly.

For those new to this promotion, Stryper is releasing a song per week through iTunes until the full album Murder by Pride is released on July 21, 2009 (exactly to-the-day, 25 years after the release of The Yellow and Black Attack EP). All involved on the technical front have asked for your patience as they refine the system to be able to deliver each song on schedule. In the meantime, your best bet is to check iTunes weekly for new Stryper songs.

in my conversations with Dave Rose over the past week (I am the admin of the Facebook page) he informed me that this really was an Itunes problem and was on conference calls with all three parties. We need to not jump on Big3 so much. Yeah, they dropped the ball on the last album. But this goof is not their fault. It is something new, and Itunes got it wrong. We all may not like Big3, but Stryper signed a contract for 2 albums and they are about to release the 2nd one. Perhaps things will change for the next album with record companies, but for now, we have to live with what we've got.

And what have we got? 3 FREAKING amazing songs that have been released (MBP, EOTS, POM) and a return of the signature sound of Stryper. Plus, we have a release date on the 25th anniversary of the first album. (excellent idea) Then we have Stryper out on tour with the return of Timothy Gaines! (and yes, Robert Sweet on tour as well!!)

Well, at least get a Pre-Order promotion or something. Not a single friggin' record store near me will carry the new disc, so finding it around here is going to be like Indiana Jones searching for the Holy Grail...

I'd at least like to go out to my mailbox on release day and find it in there...

Order it from any major music store as soon as the release date is in their computer system and they would be happy to order it for you and have it on the day it comes out.

Thanks for the info stryperfan. I CANNOT figure out why they don't just KEEP MBP up for the week and still release 4 leaf clover to keep everything remaining on schedule. All the work thats been done already to promote the weekly releases is flushed down the toilet...

I believe we could always find something to gripe about! ha! That is because we are true fans!!!!!!! Just Kidding. I am happy with all of the new stuff, I am not going to gripe about the delay of songs being put out on itunes. However if the album date is pushed back. Then....... Well.

So refresh my memory here..are the songs ususally up on the ITUNES server at midnight? Meaning 4LC will be online tonight?

Eclipse was available at midnight, I didn't know MBP was available until after I got off work around 4. The message from the delay of 4LC came in time to warn me. That way I didn't stay up for nothing.

Guessing the time frame, 4LC should be available between 12am and 12pm. I don't have to work until 12pm tomorrow thankfully.

As much of a good idea as it was intially, I'd suggest they can the whole deal (the new song per week) and either a) release the album early or b) cut their losses, say they tried and let the anticipation build back up again. The whole concept of getting a new song each week really created a furor and excitement but due to continuing conflicts, it's not a promotion that really excites me anymore. I mean, when you can knowingly click on iTunes each Tuesday morning 'cause you know that is the day when the new music is released and we're being left in subsequent limbo because no one can quite seem to figure out how to get a song posted in a timely manner, it sort of defeats the purpose.

I "get" the whole thought of "well, we can't guarantee it'll be posted by 12:01am" response. However, it's now after 1:30p CST and anything that is coming out today (ie: digital music on iTunes or the new DVD's at Blockbuster) is already out and available for purchase. The fans were given a new revised schedule of when the songs are supposed to be available and yet, here we are once again, asking anyone who might know "when is (insert song title here) gonna be out?"

Someone ought to be held accountable for this. Granted, in the grand scheme of life, how vital is it that a new Stryper song is released 6 weeks before the entire CD comes out? Answer...not much. Is there frustration? Sure. Is there continued disappointment? Yep. Would there be some confusion and a feeling of let-down if they canceled the entire promotion? Guaranteed. However, IMO, there needs to come a time to just cut & run and save yourself more embarrassmment before you just look more like a parody and less like a band/label/digital song distribution company who were intent on trying something new.

The delays and wait are only frustrating fans and this "promotion" doesn't really paint anyone in a good light. I'd hate to see the band get dragged down due to something beyond their control when instead this SHOULD be a time for celebration and remembrance.

Patience and understanding is one thing and in NO WAY do I lay ANY of this at Stryper's feet. I believe they are just as frustrated with all this as we are. But at this rate, I may just have to be content until July to just get the whole thing at once.
