FROM STRYPER.COM:

Friends,

Bassist Tracy Ferrie will not be performing on the U.S. leg of the Stryper tour. Instead, original bassist Timothy Gaines will be the sole bass player. What was originally planned as a 2-set show, will now be one full 90-minute show, consisting of all the greatest hits and new Stryper material. The band will be wearing new yellow and black outfits designed by the original outfit designer. All original members, Michael Sweet, Robert Sweet, Oz Fox, and Tim Gaines will be performing on the 25th Anniversary U.S. tour.

Tracy has made the very honorable decision, one in which we support, to put the needs of his family first. Contrary to what many may believe, most professional musicians (especially those with families) have other jobs when their band is not touring. And in order to provide for their families, they often need to find other means of work during non-touring times.

We are living in extremely difficult economic times whereby finding a good day-job is difficult. Tracy has a great one. One that provides well for his family. Leaving this job could put his family in a tough situation upon returning from tour. We support Tracy in this decision to ensure security for his family. At the same time, we're excited to get back out on the road and share our new music and the 25th Anniversary show with our friends and fans whom we have not seen in a long time.

We're honored to have been doing this for 25 years and blessed to have the opportunity to go out on tour this fall. Without you, our friends and fans, we would not have lasted this long. Thank you. See you on the road soon.

Stryper

STAY TUNED FOR AN ALL NEW STRYPER.COM - REIGNITING THE FIRE ON AUGUST 23RD!!!

Major bummer. Tracy you will be missed on this tour. All fans are bummed, but totally support you in your decision. We live in tough economic times and the Lord calls us first and foremost to take care of our families first.

God Bless

:( I am saddened by this news. I really like Tracy's playing style, and his stage performance is top notch. His work on "MBP" is phenomenal, and he is a really nice guy. I do understand his decision though, and I wish him nothing but the best. These are hard economic times, I'm struggling myself, and family must always come first, no matter what your profession is. Tracy Ferrie, in my mind and heart will always be considered a valuable member of Stryper.

I will say that I am excited to see Tim Gaines now for the whole 90 minutes. I am a bit disappointed that it won't be a two set show, I was really interested in seeing how it will go, but 90 minutes of Stryper live is good enough for me.

God Bless Tracy.

This is sad news, but I understand why he made this decision. His playing on MBP is outstanding, and I was looking forward to seeing him play some of these songs live. Maybe next time. Tracy, if you're reading this, you will be missed on this tour, but we understand, and we support you.

If you look in the dictionary under the term "MIXED EMOTIONS" you will find this.

One on hand, I think it is awesome to have a band with it's original lineup performing. I like Tim and Tracy equally and I feel that each one has contributed their own "flavor" to the music, both classic and new. Not to beat this horse again but what Sammy Hagar brought to Van Halen VS Roth.

On the other hand, I will really miss seeing Tracy on the road as he is a bass monster.

The mere fact that he put his family first is...I cannot think of a word other than honorable. I am proud to be a fan of yours Tracy.

That's a bummer, but I don't blame Tracy for doing this. God Bless you Tracy, you rule dude, and will be missed on the tour.

That is such a shame that Tracey had to make that decision, I'm sure that he is just as bummed about it as we all are.

What I don't get is why they are cutting the show down to 90 minutes? I'm sure Tim could get up to speed on the new material in time. I am really gutted about that.

All in all THIS is great news, not only because Tim will be with the band 90' performing, but also because Tracey is teaching us how to handle situations when they are taken not by emotions but for the right reasons those that ultimately matters: family!
Tracey you taugh me greatly with this. I thanks God for your live your ministry your family and you will be receiving twice more. I know that God will ultimately return better in the end.

As a man with a family, you're number one responsibility before God is to take care of your family! You CANNOT please God, if you're not fulfilling your number one responsibility! There's no doubt that this was a very difficult decision for Tracy, but he did the RIGHT thing! It's also good that the rest of the band is supporting him in this decision! Now THAT'S a CHRISTian band! :stryperrocks
